If a team does not have the minimum number of players from their team roster within 5 minutes after the scheduled game time it will be a forfeited game. If the opposing team has the minimum number of players or more and agrees to play a league game it will be so counted.

PLAYER EQUIPMENT

Footwear – Field 1 & Field 3, sneakers or plastic/rubberized cleats.

Shin Guards must be worn under socks & mouth guards are mandatory. All goalkeeper’s must have appropriate safety equipment.

A league game shall be two 25 minute halves with running time. It is the Referee’s discretion to stop the clock due to a serious injury. Half-time length is at the referee’s discretion based on the timekeeping of the league schedule.

PLAYOFF GAMES

All playoff games will consist of a single 25 minute running time period.

SUBSTITUTIONS

Teams may substitute “on the fly.” Players must enter the game within five feet of the team’s door. Too many players on the field will result a team warning the first infraction, then a free hit will be awarded thereafter.

BOARDS

Body checking into the boards is not allowed and an infraction will result in a free hit as well as the removal of said player for two minutes. The team must also play one player shorthanded until the time has been served. Players may not put hand(s) on the boards while playing the ball. A free hit shall be awarded for violating this rule to the opposing team.

TEAM BOXES

Only team players and coaching staff (adults) will be permitted behind benches.

CONDUCT

Players, managers and/or coaches are not permitted to argue with the referee during play. A referee’s decision regarding play and discipline on the field is final. If a referee deems the actions or words of any player, coach or spectator to be contrary to the tenants of good sportsmanship, he/she may issue a yellow or red card and require removal of the individual(s) from the facility.

SITUATIONAL PLAY

The ball may not be raised above the waist as a result of a hit including scooping & flicking. Violation will result in the opposition being awarded a free hit at the spot of the infraction.

At no time can the ball be driven. A “drive” shall be defined as: when a player’s stick comes above the waist and follows thru above the knee.

Players cannot tackle unless they are in a position to play the ball without body contact.

The Obstruction rule is defined as: Any player who obstructs an opponent who is attempting to play the ball, backs into a player, physically interferes with the stick or body of an opponent or shields the ball from an opponent with their stick or body and/or using the boards as a means of obstruction.

The “advantage rule” shall be defined as: a penalty is awarded only when a player or team has been disadvantaged by an opponent breaking the rules. If awarding a penalty is not an advantage to the team which did not break the rules, play shall continue.

The ball shall be considered out of play when it touches any netting above the boards and the referee shall award the possession. If the ball hits the boards adjacent to the goal area off an offensive player, the ball is dead and the defense shall have the free hit. If the ball hits the boards adjacent to the goal area off a defensive player intentionally, the offense shall be awarded a corner hit.

A free push shall be awarded in the event that, outside of the scoring circle, a player commits a foul which interferes with the flow of the game.

A Penalty Corner shall be awarded to the offensive team at any time that a defensive player commits a foul inside the scoring circle, which does not prevent a sure goal.

A Penalty Stroke shall be awarded to the offensive team at any time that a defensive player commits a foul inside the scoring circle, which prevents a sure goal.

PENALTY CORNERS

For a corner play, there will only be 3 defensive players allowed beyond the half field mark during a corner. The offensive players must remain at the half field mark until the ball is struck.

OVERTIME

During regular league play, there is no overtime period or alternating penalty corners to break a tie. During the playoffs, if the game is tied after the 25 minute “game” alternating penalty corners will be utilized to break the tie. A coin toss will decide which team will execute the first penalty corner. In the event that the first team scores, the second team will have the opportunity to execute its own penalty corner to tie the overtime period. Corner execution will continue until one team has scored in a sequence and the other has not.

The penalty corner is considered complete when either the offensive team has scored, or the defensive team has cleared the ball cleanly past the first dividing line (what would normally be the 25 yard line).
